Magnifica 70 is set on the city of São Paulo in the 1970s and depicts a universal and timeless situation - the clash between the desire for the forbidden, longing and repression, freedom and prejudice. The central story, which has a number of subl=plots, involves, Vicente, a 35-year-old man who lives a safe but repressed middle-class life. He works in the office of the Federal Film Censor and has a routine marriage. But then he sees the film "A Devassa da Estudante" (The Hot Student), with actress Dora Dumar and he is bowled over. Vicente's fascination with Dora takes him to the red light district, where he begins to work with Dora and Manolo, owner of the Magnífica film company. This seductive but chaotic world draws all three together in an obsessive triangle. A man bored with his reality, works in the São Paulo government censorship department, is married to Isabel, but falls in love with Dora Dumar, an actress of the films he has the obligation to censor.
