幕间休息是一部喜剧片，舞台は取り壊しが決まった銀座の古い名画座。支配人のクミコとスーパー年の差カップルのダンナ・ショウタは、ちょっとイラだちながらその最後の日を待っている。ところが！そんな劇場に押し寄せるのは、地震と放射能の心配で毎日モヤモヤしている、けっこうアブないお客さんたち。映画の休憩時間ごとにスパークするお客さんたちの物語は、ついにクミコをあるとんでもない決意に向かわせる・・・！シネパトスゆかりの映画評論家・樋口尚文が監督を手がける、とてつもなく自由で、エネルギッシュで、なんでもありのパワーに満ちた異色エンターテインメント！

On the eve of the closure of a cinema, an examination of what this means for film and for Japan as a whole from the point-of-view of the viewing public and the cast who staffed many of the films. Intermissions marks the return of actress Akiko Koyama to film following the death of her famed husband whom she had been looking after for years.
