赌城纵横是一部剧情,犯罪片，一次偶然中，西德尼（菲利浦·贝克·霍尔 Philip Baker Hall 饰）遇见了名为约翰（约翰·C·赖利 John C. Reilly 饰）的男子，他将穷困潦倒的约翰带到了赌场之中，教会了他赌术，希望约翰能够借此时来运转。在赌场，西德尼遇见了违反了赌场规定和客人进行肉体交易的女招待克莱门汀（格温妮丝·帕特洛 Gwyneth Paltrow 饰），哪知道克莱门汀和约翰一见面就坠入了情网，马上决定携手步入婚姻的殿堂。 　　西德尼的朋友吉米（塞缪尔·杰克逊 Samuel L. John has lost all his money. He sits outside a diner in the desert when Sydney happens along, buys him coffee, then takes him to Reno and shows him how to get a free room without losing much money. Under Sydney's fatherly tutelage, John becomes a successful small-time professional gambler, and all is well, until he falls for Clementine, a cocktail waitress and sometimes hooker.
